I wish as a society we would recognize being mediocre at athletics is ok. I was on my high school ski team and routinely finished in the bottom 30%. I remember once I was looking at my times posted in the lodge and a girl behind me asked which one was me. I pointed to my name which was like 12 out of 15 and she laughed at me. I then pointed to the 6ish “better” skiers below be whose times were did not finish and saying “well I beat them too because I finished”. The point of sports is disciple, skills improvement, teamwork, and so much more than standing on a top three podium. The reality is most of us who compete aren’t at the top. If the only people who ever did sports thought they would rank in the top three there would be very few participants. I wish social media was a thing when I was younger so I could go back and talk about being a very mediocre cross country, ski, swim, and water polo athlete in high school and college because it is totally fine and normal.

My mom bought Melaleuca products from her friend when I was a kid to help her financially, but she never signed up with her. I LOVE their products. My MIL passed away in March 2024. She was signed up with Melaleuca. At the end of March, her next shipment was due, and they were harassing her phone because the payment failed on her upcoming shipment. After the company had emailed her and called her several times, the rep she signed up under finally called and left a msg. I called her back to let her know my MIL had passed away and her response was SHE REQUIRED PROOF OF DEATH to be able to cancel the shipment my MIL was contractually bound to pay for. That was it for me. Never again.

OK. So here is why this is pernicious (apart from the attempts to take money away from you). This whole thing is actually taking a bunch of good practices and turning them into nonsense. Namely: - Being grateful. There are actual studies that have found that people who take some time to make a list of the things they are grateful for are indeed less depressed. Which makes sense because life is busy and seldom do we take some time to realize that most of us are indeed quite privileged in many ways. - Thinking positively. If you always believe that nothing is going to work out, you actually put less effort into it and you act in a way that makes people around you put less effort into it as well (think about having to do something at work against what you believe is the best solution). Conversely, believing that something will turn out ok will likely increase the chances that people will put the effort into it and that it does work out. - Accepting that shit is what it is. This is definition of beating anxiety. Embracing a "que será, será" perspective is quite literally one of the hardest things to do, especially accepting that bad shit will happen. But overall, it is pretty much the only thing humans can do cause the universe is random in many ways. They take these reasonable concepts and turn it into an absolute mess that makes you think they don't have to work. Which is... Such a jump 😅

I have read a LOT of reviews and done TONS of subject. They are not trying to be a scam, and it seems that the modules are great, very ind epth and will educate you on. how to find a niche, set up a brand, create digital products- PLUS you can re-sell for an affiliate %. The only issue is there is some shame associated with MRR and for seasoned marketers like us, we feel the pressure to create our own course- which i already have- but why not purchase a complete course like this where everything has been done, if it makes things easier? The issue is, how will you fit it into your value ladder? Main product? Upsell, downsell what? You dont want to be stuck as the reseller of someone else's course- thats lame. Strategy is needed.

I worry that the tradwife trend is damaging because there's a lot of internalized misogyny that's finding itself in an echo chamber and convincing women that any of this is realistic, which is really not, as you said, they have wealth, means, child care, etc. But if it were honest, it wouldn't feel like that 50s house wife damaging lie our mom's and grammas were sold, many (not all) of whom did not have other choices, or rights. Our society has changed since that time, we don't generally have the means or support, communities feel further apart, so to show young girls this is not only attainable, but even 'their role' is setting them up for failure.
